Cemetery Upkeep

So, we have had this land given to us for some odd years now and we are blessed to have our beloved family members resting in their tombs, but it seems the walls were slowly decaying and the grounds needed some upkeep and the walls strengthening and a refresher of paint. Also not to mention the implementation of an enhanced archway to bring more elegance to the property.

Each family donated for the supplies needed and Morgan spent a week attending to the masonry issues, but the painting was up to us. Uncle blew the whistle and all who could hear it came, as for a few hours and a couple tubs of paint and brushes was all needed to get the job done as we applied a fresh layer of light grey over the battered white newly cemented walls.

I can still hear Uncle Ishmael poking fun at me wondering if “my New York life had taught me to paint with such small strokes.” All while Oltons boys, Papi and Madani fussed over who had to paint over who had to rake the grounds.

Between a refresher of messapples and other fruits and drinks we all had a good time with each other and help prepare the grounds for the following week where we invited all for a proper ceremony at the grounds.
